Literacy Assessment Opportunity

Dear Parents of Home-Schooled Students,

Hello!  I hope your school year is off to a great start!  Once again, the students in Reading Diagnosis and Correction are offering the free service of assessing your second grade or older child(ren) in literacy development.  Our assessment sessions this year are Monday, September 17, and Wednesday, September 19 from 11:00 - 12:15.  We welcome children on a first email (or phone call: 573-629-3105), first-served basis.  Feel free to forward this to other parents who might be interested in this opportunity.

If you would like for your child(ren) to participate, please contact me with your preferred date, along with the name, age, birthdate, and grade level of your child(ren).  I will email you a confirmation.

Please bring your child(ren) to the Burt Administration Building, room 202, on Hannibal-LaGrange University's campus by 11:00 a.m. on the assessment date.  You may stay in the Snack Shack area on the 1st floor, or you may leave to run errands, visit the library or the newly remodeled student center for coffee, etc., returning by 12:15 to pick up your child(ren).  Do not be concerned if it takes a little longer to complete the assessments.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our future teachers, who will student teach next semester, to practice their skills.  They gain experience using assessment instruments and analyzing the results.  I also personally check each assessment for accuracy.  Suggestions for further instruction or remediation will be given in the report that is mailed to you within six weeks after the testing date.  All student information is kept confidential.

Thank you for partnering with us in this great learning experience.  If you have any questions, please contact me.  We look forward to providing this service to you and your child(ren).  Feel free to pass this on to other parents who homeschool their children.

Have a blessed day!

Sincerely,
Julie Albee
